3/39 Barn, Granary and Shippon 10 metres south east of Burford Lane Farmhouse

Barn, granary and shippon, 1866, by John Douglas, probably for R.E.Egerton-Warburton. Brick with oak-framed gable and grey slate roofs. Symmetrical with gable, crowned by square steepled dovecote and weathervane, to front. The central portion contains threshing-barn with granary above; the shippons occupy wings to each side under lean-to roofs. The front has double doors at centre with a single door to each side, a divided shippon door to each wing and a central loading-door to granary in upper storey. All openings have camber arches. 2 cruciform vents to granary in upper storey. 1866 carved on gable frame. Interior: not inspected. c.f. farm building of similar date, form and expression at Moorend Farm, Lower Kinnerton, Chester City District, probably built for the Grosvenors' Eaton Estate.
