Details
TQ 2882 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER PARK LANE, Wl 79/43 (east side) 24.2.58 Nos.46 and 47 (Stanhope House) - II Town mansion, 1899-1901 by Romaine Walker and Besant. Forest of Dean sandstone, slate roof. Ornate and correctly detailed late Gothic elevations. 4 storeys, basement and dormers. 3 windows wide with extension to left. Entrance porch to left. 3 symmetrical through-storey canted stone mullioned and transomed bay windows with traceried heads to lights, traceried parapets and blind tracery aprons. Similar details to Stanhope Gate return. Pierced-work traceried area parapets. Interior has Gothic style continued in entrance hall but the fine oval stairwell and principal 1st floor rooms are decorated in a highly accomplished neo-Adam manner including ornate plasterwork ceilings etc.
