II

Formerly known as: Merley Hall Farmhouse LOWER MERLEY ROAD. Farmhouse. Late C17, altered and W wing added late C18. Rendered with large brick ridge stack, gable stack and tiled roof. L-shaped plan with E parallel extension. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range W side, 2-window range to S range. Rendered W range with large ridge stack, boarded doorway and late C18 8/8-pane sashes in flush frames, and C20 2:1 hipped casement dormers. S elevation has a W brick gable with a left-hand blocked opening at eaves level; set back to the middle is a brick gable in late C18 Gothick style with sinuous parapet, 4-centre-arched moulded doorway with double doors and narrow flanking lights, similar first-floor chamfered 6/6-pane sash, and 2-centre-arched niche in the gable with a standing figure. Rendered E range has 8/8-pane sashes, with a single gable window. INTERIOR reported to contain an entrance stair hall with a good late C17-early C18 open-well stair with turned balusters, square newels, moulded rail and closed string. Reset C16 and C17 panelling.
