Gallery premises. 1876 by E W Godwin. Portland stone. Transitional Gothic - Free style. Narrow frontage. Five storeys with gable. Deeply recessed ground floor gallery windows and doorway framed by columns in antis. First floor also recessed with segmental arched window and sculpted figures of 2 children holding a shield to left hand side.
Interior: one of the very few late C19 purpose designed galleries to survive retaining its top light rear exhibition space with a balustraded well to staircase down to basement show-room.
