Gateway and boundary wall, 1854-56 by C E Giles. Ham stone and lias wall, cast iron gates. Low stone wall to east in
cut and squared lias stone with angled Ham stone copings, increasing in height to accommodate drop in levels on north
side: entrance gateway in centre of east wall has panelled cast iron pillars with strapwork decoration and deeply
moulded knob tops; pair of small gates with small circles to bottom rail, X-braces with rosettes to upper middle rail,
which has barbed spearpoints with toprail and scrollwork above, with central spearpoint; simple wrot-iron overthrow
with bracket for lamp and angled braces; the whole contributing to the setting of Christ Church (qv) and the street
scene, on a prominent corner site in the middle of the village.
