Cottage attached to west end of High Cross Moor Farmhouse

Cottage, at present unoccupied. Late C17 with early C19 additions
and alterations. Rubble brought to course, dressed quoins, stone
slate roof. 2 storeys. 2-cell direct-entry plan, 2 1st-floor windows.
Ground floor has central doorway with monolithic jambs with, to either
side, C19 2-light flat-faced mullioned windows with 2-paned sashes.
1st floor retains 2 double-chamfered mullioned windows with almost
square reveals of 3 lights and 4 lights. 2 stacks to ridge, formerly
gable stacks, that to right C17 in ashlar with cornice. Attached to
right, at right angles, is former 2-storey workshop with doorway and
small window in side and taking-in door to 1st floor set in gable.
Single stack offset from ridge on the west side of roof. Later additions
to either end of cottage (of no special interest). It is
probable that this workshop was connected with the craft of nail-
making.
