TQ7668NW GARDEN STREET, Brompton 686-1/5/4 (North East side) 21/12/73 Nos.22 AND 24 and attached front basement iron railings

GV II

Semi-detached house. Dated 1745 by owner. Red Flemish bond brick with 2 axial brick stacks and a tiled roof. Early STYLE: Georgian. PLAN: double-depth divided by a through passage. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, basement and attic; 5-window range. A symmetrical front has a thin cornice and parapet, central timber doorway with pilasters to a Greek key frieze and cornice, cambered head and recessed doorway. Rubbed brick flat arches to 2/2-pane mid C19 sashes in flush frames; blank middle window, and 2 hipped dormers. INTERIOR: a central through passage with central doorways each side. No.22 has raised panelling covered by mid C20 boarding, with a central axial stack with winder stair to the rear; No.24 reported to have original panelling. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached iron front basement railings with urn finials. A notably early semi-detached house behind a composed unified facade.
