Methodist church. c1853. Squared, coursed, rusticated limestone rubble with freestone dressings, slate roof. Decorated Gothic Revival style. Rectangular plan with church hall to rear. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. 3 forward-facing gables have chamfered coping, crocketed finials and blind slit windows to the apexes. The lower central gable is set back with a 4-light pointed-arched window with Geometrical tracery; the gabled doorcase below rises above the sill; it has a pointed arch with a leaded quatrefoil window in the tympanum over a shouldered arch to the double doors; doors have 2-light transomed stained-glass windows to the top and 2 panels below. The gabled 3-storey towers to each side have elaborate clasping buttresses, freestone and rubblestone rustication form a ladder-like pattern with gables to each facet above the 2nd floor. The ground-floor windows have trefoil-headed leaded lights; similar taller 1st-floor windows have another blind trefoil above the light and gabled hoodmoulds cutting through string courses between the buttresses. Above the buttresses the facade is spanned by a string course forming sills to large pointed-arch openings which pierce the towers. INTERIOR: the church room has central cast-iron pillars and margin panes to some windows.
