Inn. c1842-3. Limestone ashlar, hipped double-Roman tile roof with 2 gabled dormers. Double-depth plan with rear extensions. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic; symmetrical 3-window range. Plinth and steps to the door. 6/6-pane sash windows to the dormers and centre of the 1st floor, flanked by 8/8-pane sashes; 2 wide C20 segmental-plan bays to the ground floor. These have a dentilled cornice which continues round a bracketed hood over double 2-panel doors and overlight. Each bay has timber mullions to 5-light sash windows of 9/1 panes. INTERIOR: not inspected. One of a group of houses in New Road built after the arrival of the railway in 1840-41. (Chamberlain, Joseph A: Chippenham: Chippenham: 1976-: 129).
