ST9274SW LANGLEY ROAD 930-1/4/63 (West side) 22/06/78 Nos.26, 28 AND 30 and attached front walls and gate piers
GV II
Terrace of 3 houses. Early/mid C19 with late C19 alterations to No.30 to the right. Limestone ashlar facade, squared and coursed returns, rendered rear; double-pitched slate roof with moulded ashlar stacks to part walls and coped gable ends. Double-depth plans. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attics; 7-window range. Dentilled cornice, parapet and platband. No.26 to the left is 2-window range with a C20 4-light flat-roofed dormer, 6/6-pane sash windows and to the right is a 6-panel door glazed to the top with diamond-shaped panels to the centre and a cast-iron knocker. No.28 to the centre, is symmetrical 3-window range. Similar to No.26, it has 2 small early C19 gabled dormers. No.30 is 2-window range with a large late C19 gabled dormer to the right above a late C19 full-height canted bay. Plate-glass sash windows; enclosed projecting porch with cornice and parapet. INTERIOR: of No.28 has early C19 panelled shutters, roll-moulding to projecting corners, stick balusters and turned newels to a dogleg staircase. The ground-floor room to the left has a late C19 fireplace, the room to the rear a plain stone surround to a former range, and the room to the front right has late C19 decorative panels painted onto the plaster. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: rough ashlar walls extend forward to the street to a low plinth to former railings. No.30 has piers with pyramidal caps flanking the garden and the C20 gate.
