C.U.B.C. Goldie Boathouse
Boathouse. 1882. Red brick; machine tile roof. 2 storeys and dormer attic in 4-window range. Ground floor with double timber doors to right; 2 2-light casements with glazing bars and segmental heads to left. 4 French windows to first floor open onto timber balcony. Balcony with turned balustrade and square-section supporting posts rising to flat roof. Gabled roof with 3 dormers: outer 2 pedimented and each with 2 single-light centre-hung casements with glazing bars. Wide pedimented central dormer lit through 2 groups of 2 single-light casements as before, separated by plaster inscription plaque which reads: CUBC Goldie Boathouse. Coat of arms and raised plaster decoration in pediment. Central transverse ridge stack. INTERIOR. Not inspected. HISTORICAL NOTE. The oldest intact Cambridge boathouse and the site of the first meeting of the Cambridge University Boat Club in March 1883.
