Formerly known as: Balliol Croft.
House. c.1885 by J J. Stevenson for Alfred Marshall. Converted to student study bedrooms late C20. Red brick 1aid in English bond; plain tile roofs. 2 storeys and dormer attic rising into 3 storeys to east end. 3-window range. Right-hand 3-storey tower lit through one 6!6 horned sash to ground and first floors, under segmental heads. 2 2/4 horned sashes to second floor under gauged skewback arches. Flat tower roof Centre of elevation with raised first-floor balcony with turned timber corner posts and balustrade. Access via a glazed French door. Ground floor with one 6/6 segmental-headed horned sash to left and a recessed pair of double doors to right. Roof of balcony under pentice roof. Left bay with one 6! 6 horned sash under segInental head to first floor only. Gabled roof with one flat-roofed donner fitted with one 2-light and one 3-light casement with glazing bars. West return with a ground-floor canted bay window. INTERIOR. Ground-floor south-west room with eared chimneypiece with pulvinated frieze. Panelled sliding door into south-east room. Kitchen with original cupboards and shelving. Staircase balustrade boarded over late C20: square newel posts. (Girouard, M: Sweetness and Light: Oxford: 1977: 114 & pl.96)
