Lodge east south east of Frankleigh House
GV II
Lodge to country house. Circa mid-late Cl9, possibly by Henry Clutton. Ashlar. Steeply-pitched stone tile roof with gabled ends with small stone finials. Large central axial stack with stone diagonally-set shafts and weathered base-. PLAN: L-shaped plan with large porch on SE front facing drive. Gothic/C17 vernacular style. EXTERIOR: 1 storey and attic. South east front facing drive has large gabled stone porch on 1C4 with depressed 2-centred arch doorway, small panel above with number 73 and unglazed'sid6-lights; 3-light stone mullion window to right with hoodmould. The other elevation's and' gabled and have similar 1, 2, 3 and 4-light windows. INTERIOR not inspected.
This is the lodge to Frankleigh House [qv], which was remodelled by Henry Clutton in 1848. SOURCE. Wiltshire Buildings Record.
