Shops, now with offices above. Late C19, incorporating C17
3-bay timber-framed structure. Red brick, laid to Flemish
bond, with yellow brick cornice and stucco dressings. Welsh
slated roof with mansard front above parapet.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attics: first floor has 3 bays, with 6
sash windows in pairs, upper sashes 6 pane, lower sashes plain
glazed recessed below rubbed brick arches. 3 wood casement
dormers with slated cheeks, moulded cornice and lead flat
roofs. Yellow brick cornice above with moulded courses and
dentil course. Red brick moulded impost band. Recessed panels
at intermediate bay lines. Continuous moulded stucco cornice
at sill level with scroll and triglyph consoles on bay lines.
Ground floor 3 unequal bays, with carriageway at left and
moulded stucco reveals above impost blocks. Piers have
pilasters with small stucco scrollwork pediment caps.
Late C19 shopfront in centre and at right-hand; timber-framed
plate glass windows above red brick stall risers with fascias
below stucco cornice.
C19 lean-to outshut across rear elevation.
INTERIOR: exposed heavy section timbers, some chamfered with
tongue stops, subdivision of attic into 3 bays, with heavy
section principal rafters and collars, and pegged rafters,
together with the position of the fireplace on the rear wall
analogous to those in No.17, with the stair alongside,
indicate the C17 origin of this building.
