House, subsequently public house, now shop with flat above.
Early C17 with C19 alterations. C19 red brick to ground floor,
stucco to first floor. Old tiled roof. 2 cell plan, with
fireplaces on rear wall, tall brick chimneystacks at rear,
with stair between.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attics. First floor has 2 almost
flush-set 3 light small-paned wood casement windows, recessed
in moulded surrounds. Ground floor has nearly full-width
shopfront with central doorway, with recessed 4-pane half
glazed door, and outer twin leaf 3 paned doors, and boarded
fanlight. Timber shop windows, above brick stallrisers, have
moulded mullions and transoms, with semicircular arched motif
in centre light, and continuous shallow pierced cast-iron
ventilation panels across top. Carved foliated consoles at
ends of continuous fascia with dentil frieze and moulded
cornice. Timber-framed internally. Roof above moulded wood
eaves cornice, with 2 three-light small-paned casement box
dormers with lead flat roofs.
Rear has projecting pebbledashed gabled outshoots and C19
single storey colourwashed brick extension, with C20 French
windows, and a Welsh slated lean-to roof.
INTERIOR: ground floor front, opened out as single room, has
C18 bolection moulded panelling, chamfered exposed beams and
fireplace at left on rear wall with charred timber bressumer.
Cellar under front room approached through vaulted corridor
below stair behind fireplace. First floor approached by C20
single flight stair which connects to C17 newel stair with
winders. First floor exposed beams with chamfer, stop and
tongue. 2 attics with ledged planked doors with T-hinges. Butt
purlin roof, with common rafters concealed.
