Garden building and walled enclosures to front and rear.
Hermitage C17, with mid C19 semi-octagonal arched loggia
probably contemporary with grotto gardens. C17 red brick in lime mortar laid
to English bond, rusticated stucco on red brick front loggia,
stucco surround to lancet in rear gable. Old red tile roof to
older part obscured by higher semi octagonal hipped tiled
roof. Semicircular arch from loggia leads into older part
which has a 4-centred chamfered arched doorway on the east.
Centrally placed in each side wall, a small chamfered
loophole. Grotto garden of brick kiln wasters with entrance
through arch on north-east face. Artificial outcrop of natural
stone with guard chamber at narrow entrance on east, to next
walled garden. Another arch on south-west.
Building and garden ruinous at time of inspection.
