GV II

House. Early C19, altered late C19. Incised painted stucco, slate roof with stacks to flanking party walls. Double-depth plan with C20 additions to the rear. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. Late C19 horned 2/2-pane sash windows, that to the centre of the 1st floor is under an eaves band that follows the contours of late C19 full-height, flat-roofed canted bays which flank the facade. The early C19 doorcase has reeded pilasters, entablature and cornice. Raised and fielded panels to a 6-panel door glazed to the top and the reveals and soffit. INTERIOR: the early C19 staircase has stick balusters, fretted ends, turned newels and a straight pine handrail. The ground floor has early C19 architraves to 6-panel doors, splayed window openings with shutters, some dado rail in the hall, and the room to the right (formerly 2 rooms) has a moulded cornice, semi-elliptical recesses and an opening to former window of 8/8-pane proportions. Late C19 4-panel doors to the 1st floor. SUBSIDIARY FEATURE: a coped rendered rubblestone wall approx 2m high is attached to the right, it reduces in height to front the building with long/short railing gate to the centre.
