Outbuilding to west-north-west of Whychurch Farmhouse

Outbuilding, incorporating dovecote/store to centre flanked by
shelter sheds. Nov. 2nd 1798 date on leadwork. Flemish bond
brick with stone slate roofs.
PLAN AND EXTERIOR: rectangular plan with 1-storey shelter
sheds flanking 3-storey dovecote/store with hipped roof.
6-bay shelter sheds originally open-fronted but retaining
circular brick piers. Dovecote/store has 2 semi-circular
arched ground floor doorways with stone key and impost blocks.
Stone lozenge shaped panels; 2 string courses to upper floor;
entry to rear.
INTERIOR: principal-rafter roof with butt purlins. Doveholes
to top-floor dovecote.
A good example of a farmbuilding range of the Age of Improvement, clearly influenced by the work of architects such as Samuel Wyatt.
The asset was previously listed twice also at List entry 1363877. This entry was removed from the List on 7th August 2015.
