Inn, now veterinary surgery. C16 origins, front range rebuilt late C18. Coursed limestone rubble with a brick stack and a hipped stone slate roof. PLAN: U-shaped plan with rear wings flanking a through-passage. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 3-window range. A symmetrical front has quoins, a central segmental arch to a cobbled through carriageway, shallow bays each side with overhanging first-floor bays above, with paired 6/6-pane sashes, paired second-floor horned 6/6-pane sashes, and to the centre a segmental-head to first-floor 8/8-pane sash, and second-floor 6/6-pane sash, all with exposed boxes. C16 N and C18 S ranges project at the rear, the S range with 8/8-pane and 10/10-pane sashes and a pair of brick side stacks. INTERIOR: altered mid C20; details include a covered flagged through-passage to the rear courtyard, collar truss roof with butt purlins and diagonally-set ridge between overlapping trusses. The N wing in 3 sections, the middle one single storey with a re-set C16 moulded stopped beam, the rear one with C16 collared trusses.
