Shown on OS map as Lydney House. House, now hotel. c1760, converted late C20. Red brick; roof of mixed red and black-glazed pantiles. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 3-window range. East front with central 6-panelled and fielded door set behind porch on unfluted Greek Doric columns. 6/6 unhorned sashes to ground and first floors, 3/3 to attic floor, all under gauged skewback arches. Brick bracketed eaves. Hipped roof with 2 stacks. North and south returns also 3-window ranges, centre windows blind, others with 6/6 unhorned sashes. Attached to south return is a single-storey C19 ballroom with 3 C20 French windows; hipped slate roof. INTERIOR: ballroom with C20 egg-and-dart frieze. Boarded C20 staircase. Cellar of 5 bays divided longitudinally by square brick piers, each carrying a groin vault of shaped clunch blocks. Lamp niches to side walls, some provided with smoke flues. Scratched date: 16 July 1765.
