Shire hall, now 7 flats. 1839, converted 1989-90. By John Brown. Stuccoed brick with gault-brick lower attachments. Slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 3-bay entrance in east gable: full-height recessed entrance bay flanked by arched niches right and left, and two 3/6 unhorned sashes to first floor, all with architraves. 4 pilasters with capitals separate the bays. Glazed doors of 1990 within recessed entrance bay. Pediment with block mutules and arms of Norfolk County Council. Hipped roof. 2 stacks on wall plane to north and south returns. Returns with single-storey extensions of 5- by one-window range, fitted with 6/6 unhorned sashes under gauged skewback arches. Hipped roofs. First floor of main block has returns lit through five 6/6 arched and unhorned sashes. INTERIOR: floored and altered. C20 staircase inserted.
