II

Three houses. Late C17 with C18 additions and later
alterations. Painted roughcast over rubble with slate roofs.
2 storeys.
No.2, in the centre, dates from the C17 and is of 2-cell plan.
It has some rebated and chamfered mullioned windows remaining,
of 2 and 3 lights to the left of the doorway, and of 2 lights
at the far right (the latter moved from No.1 at some time
during the C20). Immediately to the right of the door is a
casement window with painted surround. The 3 windows on the
1st floor are similar. The door has a plain rendered surround.
The chimney, at the left of the junction with No.3, has a
large rounded cap.
No.3, at the left, has its front wall canted back at an angle
and has one window bay with casements with plain reveals. A
lean-to against the left-hand gable wall has a door and a
window in its front wall.
No.1, at the right, is taller and of 2 bays. The right-hand
window bay has rebated and chamfered mullioned windows of 3
large lights. The left-hand bay has a window on the 1st floor
and a door below, both with plain reveals. Both are C20
alterations: an old photograph shows a 2-light mullioned
window on the ground floor and a blank wall above. On the
right-hand gable there is a chimney with rounded cap.
INTERIOR: No.2 has exposed chamfered main ceiling beams, a
spice cupboard with oak door in the left-hand room, a stone
stair to the rear, and 2 upper cruck trusses rising from
1st-floor level.
