II
Public house. Early C17, with later alterations. Timber-framed
and plastered; plain tile roof with rebuilt ridge stack.
Lobby-entrance plan.
EXTERIOR: single storey and attic with 3 flat-topped dormers.
Central C20 glazed door. To left one 8/8 unhorned sash,
further left a plank door within an early C19 reeded doorcase;
to right of central door, one 3-light late C20 top-hung
casement; further right, C20 glazed door leading to private
apartments. Two larger dormers have 8/8 unhorned sashes, the
other, to right, has a 4-pane casement.
INTERIOR: stack partly rebuilt to north and west sides, but
remains substantially of C17 brick. Ground floor altered in
C20. First floor with timber-frame apparent; tie beams. West
wall of north room with early C17 black-letter script in
English; overmantel in middle room with similar script.
