GV II*

Stables, houses and outbuildings. Early C18. Ashlar sandstone; plain tile roof with end gables to front and rear. L-shaped on plan. EXTERIOR: single-storey and attic, with lattice leaded cross-windows to gables, and inserted gable dormer with 2-light leaded casement, to left centre. Central plank double doors under moulded semi-circular arch and gable with ball finial; flanked by plank double doors under 4-centred arches on panelled pilasters; plank doors in bolection-moulded stone doorcases; lattice-leaded lights under segmental arches; to extreme right is a lattice-glazed cross-window; to extreme left are plank double doors under ashlar segmental arch. Left returned side (to east): 4-window range; cross-casement with lattice glazing, in moulded architrave with keyblock under cambered head. Gable with shouldered moulded coping and ball finial, over advanced central bay; parapet with moulded coping. Central entrance, now blocked, under moulded stone flat hood on scrolled consoles and panelled pilasters and flanked by similar windows. INTERIOR: stop-chamfered ceiling beams; stable fittings; dog-leg staircase. Attached wall to north: C18; brick face to rubble; brick and ashlar pilasters and castellation; ashlar band; C19 6-panel door with pointed head under pointed arch; approx. 90m long; 3-4m high; links to Lodge (qv).
