GV II

Catholic church built to resemble a suburban villa, now 2 houses. Early C19. Incised stucco on rubble with plinth; asbestos slate hipped roof; 3 irregularly disposed brick stacks. Double-depth plan plus service wing extended with further wing at rear left in the C20. 2 storeys; 3-bay entrance and road fronts, the road front with central half-dome-headed statue niche with statue of the Virgin Mary flanked by 2-storey bowed bays. Mid-floor string, guttae under sills and a parapet cornice. Original 12-pane hornless sashes. Left-hand return is a 3-window entrance front with central distyle Doric entrance porch with guttae to entablature; original panelled door. Left of the entrance front is a 2-window range with original bowed sashes. INTERIOR retains most of its original features of interest including: open-well, open-string staircase; moulded and carved ceiling cornices; panelled doors within moulded architraves and panelled window shutters. Carefully designed to complement a good group of C19 villas.
