SW8033NW STRATTON TERRACE 843-1/3/198 Church of St Michael 23/01/73 (Formerly Listed as: STRATTON TERRACE St Michael's Church)
GV II
Parish church. 1827. By R Crout. Coursed rubble with 4-centred arches and inverted relieving arches under sills; 3-bay embattled front end with 4 embattled octagonal turrets plus short corbelled central turret over taller parapet; dry Delabole slate hipped roof. PLAN: hall church with straight gallery at rear south-west end and narrower entrance porch/stair hall beyond. Simple Commissioners' style church in Tudor Gothic style. EXTERIOR: original windows: small-paned windows with traceried heads (2 at the front, 3 at each side and smaller ones to rear wing) except for central 2-light stone ritual east window. Porch doorway on its left with original panelled doors. Principal west gable has small embattled corner turrets and a central open bellcote. INTERIOR: very simple with open-well staircase to gallery with panelled front on Tuscan columns. C20 fittings. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N: Cornwall: London: 1970-: 67).
