Town house with later shop. Late C18. Incised stucco on studwork to front and part of rear wing; slatehanging to ground floor of rear wing; grouted scantle slate parallel front roofs with brick stacks on the left, the front stack with slate louvres; 2 roof lights to rear roof of the 2, one is late C19 and cast-iron; one C17 or C18 crested clay ridge tile; rear wing with asbestos slate hipped roof at right angles, both roofs with cast-iron ogee gutters. Double-depth plan house plus one-room-plan rear wing. 3 storeys plus attic; one-window range. Original or early C19 16-pane hornless sashes within moulded architraves and simple hoods. Ground floor has early to mid C19 shop front with panelled pilasters and moulded fascia returned at the ends and with ventilation holes; late C20 plain fascia in front; 4-panel door with original flush bottom panels and later glazed top panels; the shop window with 2 later plate glass panes with bull-nose mullion between. Rear wing is 2 storeys over basement; one-window range. Original or early C19 16-pane horizontal-sliding sashes (rare and notable examples) to basement and 1st floor; later 8-pane horizontal-sliding sash to 2nd floor; C20 glazed door to left of basement. INTERIOR is simple but little altered since the C19. Features include 2 C18 wooden chimney-pieces with moulded cornices and dentils and mid/late C19 iron grates (2nd floor); one C18 2-panel door to attic; open-well staircase with turned newels and rectangular balusters and a mid C19 cast-iron flying-horseshoe grate to 1st-floor rear chamber. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: tall painted rubble wall on 2 sides of a brick-paved rear courtyard; slate coping; doorway to centre of side wall.
