Steps, wall and railings. Probably mid/late C19. Dressed
freestone and dressed granite. Retaining wall of church
forecourt parallel to church (qv) with 5 straight bays then a
concave quadrant bay left of church steps (on right), there is
a plinth surmounted by wrought-iron railings, and with a
central gate, returning back to the north-west corner of the
church and a further flight of steps to a path beside the
churchyard at far right. The wall has a granite plinth and
granite ashlar pilasters; the 2 bays on the left are
surmounted by a plain parapet with an upper and lower moulded
cornice; the lower cornice continues below a Gothic style
balustrade with trefoils, the pilasters rising to cruciform
caps. The panels between the pilasters are finely-coursed
freestone ashlar. There are 9 wide granite steps to each
flight. Flanking the church steps are slender granite monolith
