Two town houses with later shops. c1800. Painted rubble with granite quoins, timber lintels to ground floor, shallow segmental brick arches to upper floors; dry slate roof to No.37 (left), original grouted scantle slate hipped roof at higher level on the right; brick end stacks. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys over basement/cellar; 2:3-window range. Original 12-pane hornless sashes except No.37 where glazing bars removed to 2nd-floor sashes and C20 windows below. Ground floor has large projecting late C19 irregular double shop front with basket-arched lights: 3 on the left of splayed doorway with sidelights and 4 on the right plus return light on the right. Late C19 2-pane sash on the far right over small basement opening with original iron grille. Right-hand return is 2/3-window range with original sash to 1st-floor left, otherwise later horned sashes. Original pilastered doorway with pair of panelled doors central to fenestration; later doorway towards left. INTERIOR not inspected. Except for changes relating to the insertion of the shop front, this building is unusually complete for its date.
