SD2878 QUEEN STREET 626-1/3/115 (West side) 20/06/72 Nos.16 AND 16A Town House (Formerly Listed as: QUEEN STREET (East side) No.16)

GV II

House, now 2 flats. Probably early C19. Stucco with painted stone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth plan. A symmetrical composition of 2 storeys above a cellar and 3 bays, with chamfered quoins, a ground-floor sill band and a moulded stone gutter cornice. The windows are sashed with plain reveals, projecting sills, and moulded label moulds. The cellar openings have painted stone surrounds. The door, approached by 7 sandstone steps with iron railings, is of 9 raised and fielded panels and has a doorcase of engaged unfluted Ionic columns with pulvinated frieze and a pediment. Chimneys on gables. INTERIOR: original staircase said to have been removed when the house was partitioned to form 2 flats.
