II GV
House. C 1892 by A Mitchell. Red brick in Flemish bond; some tile- hanging with deep band of fishscale tiles; some pebble-dash rendering with timber-framed gables. Plain tile roof. Brick stacks. 2 storeys with attic and partial basement. 3 bays, left bay set back and having arch to internal porch with door on right; small 4-pane window on left with terracotta cornice; lst-floor tile - hung with windows of 3 lights and 1 light under tile pentices. Right-hand bays gabled, bay 2 having 2 ground-floor windows, bay 3 having a canted bay window with polygonal roof; 1st floor of each pebble-dashed with small-pane, 5-light window set, below timber-framed gable. Main roof is hipped at right-end and has dormer between right-hand bays and corniced stacks with decorative terracotta pots. Rear: gabled right-hand bay is tile-hung on 1st floor and has basement, outshut addition (not of special interest), 4-light corbelled window to 1st floor, and 4-light window in gable. Various segmental brick-arched windows and to ground floor of left bay a bracketed 5-light window. Interior: contemporary features remain including: fire- places; cornices; doors with decorative handles; and closed-string dog-leg stair with tripled lozenge-sectioned balusters alternating with tripled moulded balusters.
