GV II

Pair of small town houses, now offices. c1850, altered. Watershot coursed sandstone blocks, slate roof. Probably single-depth, each single-fronted. 3 storeys over cellars, now 2+2 windows but formerly 2+1; each has the doorway to the left, that to No.14 blocked and a former service passage doorway coupled to its left side also blocked, all these with plain monolith surrounds, and at ground level to the right of each doorway is a boot-scraper hole (the 2nd blocked). The windows have raised sills and plain surrounds; No.12 has a 4-pane sash at ground floor and the windows above this have higher sills than those of No.14; otherwise, the windows have altered glazing. INTERIOR not inspected. Forms group with Nos 4, 6 and 8 adjoining to the left (qv); and, with Nos 5-9, and 11-13A Nicholas Street at the rear (qv), part of an interesting block of "late Georgian" town housing.
