GV II

House. Early C18, incorporating elements of an earlier building on the site, and extensively restored C20. Brick with plain tiled roof and some internal timbering. Main elevation faces south: 2 storeys with attic, 2-window range beneath wide gable partially rebuilt. French windows to ground floor, 12-pane sashes above, and 2-light casements in attic. Side entrance. Narrower gable to right with single window to each floor forms flying freehold over part of No.10 College Hill (qv). Axial stack. INTERIOR: wide entrance hall runs the length of the rear of the house, with early C18 staircase with turned balusters and closed string. Late C18 marble Adam-style fireplace in one ground-floor room. Extensive remains of earlier timber frame largely re-sited and forming present roof structure, including one deeply moulded possibly C16 beam. 2 painted plaster panels were removed from window embrasures during recent restoration work.
