GV II

Retaining walls, railings and gates. 1856. By TC Hine of Nottingham. Restored late C20. Ashlar, with cast-iron stanchions and wrought-iron railing and gates. The wall, topped with a railing, runs along the east side of Castle Grove from the junction with Lenton Road, approx 40m. At the Lenton Road end, steps with a renewed gate and lamp to No.1. At the opposite end, a concave recess with original gate and railing, to No.2. This building is part of TC Hine's earliest phase of the development of the Castle Park for the Duke of Newcastle. Included for group value.
