Gates and gatepiers and wall with railings to the west of South Lodge

Gatepiers with small section of wall and railings and gates. Erected c1900 for Sir George Barham, the founder of Express Dairies, who lived at Snape House, but reusing two sections of railings of c1700 from the forecourt of St Paul's Cathedral removed in the late C19 and gates exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851. Section of low local sandstone wall with a section of cast iron railings attached to rusticated stone gatepiers with six foot high sculptured bears holding a shield bearing the Barham Coat of Arms. Elaborate wrought iron gates with side panels with lozenge decoration and gates with scrollwork.
