GV II
House, one of disparate pair with No.154 (qv). C17, but much modified in C19 and C20. Set gable to street, and extended at the far end to No.154 (qv) of later date; the original interior layout not legible. Rubble, gable rendered, brick stacks, thatch roof. 2 storeys, formerly 4 windows, now the entrance front has a central 2-light at eaves level, and at ground floor 2 wide-spaced multi-pane 2-light C18 casements with central C19 plank door under a thatched hood on props. Gable stack. The rear, garden front has 4 windows, to eyebrows at first floor, 3:2:2:3-light small-pane casements, and at ground floor a 2-light to segmental head, then pair of French doors, and a slated outshut with glazed doors, but also good small-pane 2-light casement. INTERIOR: no remaining historical features; the staircase rises laterally to the left of the entrance. Very low ceiling heights. In the N wall are 2 deep recesses to former windows, and the first-floor windows on the garden side are C20 steel. The main fireplace is C20 brickwork, and there is a C19 first-floor grate.
