SY6685 CHURCH STREET, Upwey 873-1/5/579 (East side) 12/12/53 No.164 (Formerly Listed as: CHURCH STREET, Upwey (East side) No.164 Winsbatch Farmhouse)

GV II

Detached house. Late C17. Squared and coursed rubble, concrete tile roof. A small cottage, one room depth, 2-room central entry plan, with large C20 lean-to across the back, and a later brick extension, not of special interest, to the right. 2 storeys, 3 windows; 3-light small-pane wood casements in hollow-mould stone mullions and surrounds, set flush; the centre light at first floor is 2-light. Central plank door under a deep flat stone lintel with 4-centred arch and sunk spandrels, on chamfered jambs; the lintel appears to be an introduction, as its mouldings do not tie with the jambs. To the left a plain gable and rendered stack. INTERIOR: large bressumer fire on stone cheeks, to the right of the entry, but otherwise no items of architectural or historical significance were seen. (RCHME: Dorset, South-East: London: 1970-: 369).
