LOWER STREET 1. 5595 (North Side) Tudor House SU 9033 SW 1/122 SU 9032 NW 3/122 5.1 .53. II* Substantial early C17 house of 2 storeys, 4 windows. Half hipped tiled roof. Walls of galleted coursed sandstone with high, sloped plinth. One-three-and four-light stone-mullioned leaded casements with dripmoulds over. Four-centred arch to doorway. Rear part timber-framed of good quality with roll mouldings. Three gables visible behind with windows giving light to former workers in fur trade in top floor workshop. The house was formerly known as Skinners and shows the wealth of C17 fur trade.
