Details

BUNCH LANE 1. 5393 (East Side) Ormiston Lodge and Walls and Piers forming entrance to drive. SU 93 SW 10/4 II 2. Formerly a gatekeeper's lodge on the Witley Park Estate. 19l0 dated on rainwater head, by Paxton Watson. Two storey cruciform building of Cotswold stone ashlar in a restrained Jacobean style with classical touches. High pitched tiled roofs with coped gable ends and tall ashlar chimneys. Canted bays on ends. Two and 3-light leaded casements with ovolo mullions and hoodmoulds. Game larder originally in east leg. Half-enclosed Tuscan porch, with balustraded balcony, behind a quadrant curved wall sweeping across the north-western quarter and balanced by a similar wall across the former drive (now a lane). Walls are defined by tall piers with ball finials; and in the centre of each wall is a shell headed niche. Plaque on southern spur pier of outer wall commemorates permanent gift of footpath to public by Lord Pirrie in 1910.
