SEEND HIGH STREET ST 9461 (south side) 12/304 Beech House 19.3.62 GV II
Villa, c1830, ashlar with hipped slate roof, and centre stacks. Basement and 2 storeys, 3-window range, square plan. Boarded deep eaves on paired brackets. Main front has raised plinth, band, eaves band and angle strips, plain 12-pane sashes above and channelled-rusticated ground floor with 12-pane sashes recessed in segmental-headed panels each side of 6-panel door with overlight in Roman Doric 2-column porch with fluted columns. Rear has similar details each side but 2-storey timber projection obscures first floor centre window and is built around original ashlar porch with panelled lintel. Half-glazed door within. Two segmental-headed dormers. West side 3-window range mostly of blank panels. East side has single storey and basement projection with roof hipped to east. House was built for T. Bruges (1751-1835) of Seend House, possibly as a dower house.
