Inn, now house. Circa 1800, extensively renovated 1984. Plastered cob on rubble footings; rubble and brick stacks; thatched roof. T-shaped building comprising main block facing north-east with crosswing on right (north-west) and projecting front and back. Main block includes large hall or dining room with lateral stack projecting to rear at right end, a parlour with round projections front and back and axial stack in centre, and stables with hayloft over at left end. Kitchen with large end stack to rear of crosswing, former cider-store in centre and present front garage was formerly a second parlour with lateral stack. Irregular 4-window front of late C19 casements with glazing bars of various size to main block. Door to right of parlour projection. Crosswing has 3-light first floor casement with thatched gable over. Interior has exclusively circa 1800 fittings and A-frame truss roof with nailed lap-jointed collars. A coin of 1799 was discovered in a brick and rubble nogged framed crosswall. Formerly connected with Fisher Cottage (q.v.) to left (south-east). Purpose-built inn on former Crediton-Barnstaple road.
