SCHOOL LANE 1. 1594 St Edmund's School SU 1430 SE 2/563

II* 2. 1860 by Woodyer. Gothic red brick. North south hall range and taller hall running east-west in centre. 2 storey former School house to right. Stone gabled windows with stone mullions and transomes, pointed and cusped headed. Pointed arched entrance in single bay at south end. Vitreous brick buttresses. The School house to right is of 2 storeys, stone band between. Left hand section has stone faced gable, triangular small pointed lights below and pointed arched doorway. Stepped brick buttress seperates this bay from right hand symmetrical part of front with 3 gabled semi-dormers, of 2 pointed lights each. 2 windows with 4 pointed lights and central pointed arched door on ground floor, all with stone dressings. The main school hall contains a reset C14 roof from the old Maidenhead Inn. Hammerbeam trusses, 4 centred arched collars, windbraces, purlins.
