LEIGH CHIDDINGSTONE CAUSEWAY 1. 5280 Whitepost Farmhouse TQ 54 NW 50/730 II 2. House probably of early C17 with C18 additions. At right old part of 2 storeys and attic, 1 window. Visible timber framing with plaster filling. Attic floor overhanging on moulded beam with pendants. Red brick C19 part of 2 storeys, 2 windows under main gable, one window under small gable built in imitation of early C17 style with bargeboard and pendanted finial. Iron casements with interlacing and other patterns. Right return shows 2 old projecting offset chimneys. Garden front rebuilt late C18 or early C19 in red brick with some blue headers. Segmental brick arches to casement windows, some C19 and some modern. 6-panel door top glazed, under bracketed flat hood. Inside downstairs heavy beams with wide tongued chamfer. Roman numeral mason's marks. 2 inglenooks, one partly rebuilt.
