Public house. 1886. Coursed and roughly tooled rubble with dressings to show fronts, brick elsewhere. Roof: Alternating grey and purple slates, green to corner turret. Plan: Now 2 rooms served from a single central bar. Markedly asymmetrical Gothic Revival elevations (to Brighton Street and Buchanan Road) with tall corner turret. 3 storeys. Turret: Polygonal, crenellated (with slate spire); varied Gothic windows to all floors. Brighton Street: Principal entrance forms 3rd of 4 bays; doorway with good carved foliage to capitals and lintel frieze, also to spandrels of the large corbels that support the first floor canted oriel, 1:2:1 lancets, with pierced parapet. Bays 1-3 under steep gables with pendant finials supporting seated griffins; paired lancets to upper floors, those to first with hoodmoulds and connecting string; shallow 3-window bay to ground floor, bay 1; 4th bay similar to others but with no 2nd floor windows or gable. Buchanan Road: 3 bays, the centre forming a 3-window entrance wing, pointed arched windows to upper floors, shafted to first, the doorway deeply recessed under moulded arch with panelled double doors, offset with 2 windows to left. Shallow left-hand bay and (to right) a canted and crenellated storeyed 1:2:1 bay, the windows as to turret. Stone coping through- out; sashes to several upper floor windows. Interior altered but with glass in porch representing Summer and Spring (by S Evans & Son).
