II

Cottage. Late C17-early C18, extended in 1941 and again circa 1980. Plastered cob
on rubble footings; cob stack topped with C20 brick; thatched roof. C20 building
materials unknown. Originally 2-room cottage facing south-east comprising unheated
entrance hall with larger room heated by axial stack backing onto entrance hall.
Extended to right (north-east) in 1941 and to rear circa 1980. 2 storeys.
Irregular 4-window front overall of C20 casements. Original 2-window cottage at
left with door to right (now roughly central) behind C20 monopitch thatch-roofed
porch. To right eaves level rises and thatch lifts over 2 first floor windows.
Roof hipped each end. Cottage interior largely original with beam and oak
fireplace lintel both chamfered with runout stops.
