This is one of the finest timber-framed buildings in Sussex, of Kentish quality.
T-shaped house, now 5 dwellings. Fine timber-framed building. The centre projection
and the wing to the North C15 and close-studded. The projection has its first
floor oversailing on a moulded bressummer and brackets. On first floor, oriel
window of 2 tiers of 6 lights, the end lights splayed, with wooden mullions
and transom, diamond-shaped or square leaded panels and the date 1611 over the
window. On each side of this oriel are 2 small fixed original windows with
old green glass. Above the projection is a gable oversailing on a carved bressummer
with an attic window containing old green glass. The North wing has a bay on
both floors with ornamental timbering between the storeys and a small gable
over with carved bargeboards and pendant. The South wing is a C16 addition,
the first floor partly tile-hung, the ground floor of its South wall rebuilt
in red brick. Tiled roof. Casement windows with diamond-shaped or small square
leaded panes. Two storeys. Six windows.
