Row of six estate houses. Dated '1836 B' on two gable plaques, built for the
Duke of Bedford possibly by S.S. Teulon. Hammer dressed limestone with ashlar
and freestone dressings. Collyweston stone slated roofs. Five symmetrical
ridge stacks with moulded cornices. Two storeys. Long north-south range with
paired central and single gabled wings and four lean-to porches in angles,
(two porches to north and south). Moulded stone eaves cornices and chamfered
plinth; ashlar quoins. Porches with chamfered two-centred arches, unglazed
side lights and inner boarded doors. Eight ground floor, and first floor two
and three light cast iron latticed casement windows with ovolo moulded
mullions continued in two-centred arched heads and recessed in flat stone
arches and with stone cills. Four chamfered gable recesses, two with plaques.
Interior: Two room plan with boxed staircase. No. 1 was formerly a saddler's
shop.
