The following building shall be added:
HARTING SU 72 SE 9/12A Hop kilns at Hill Ash Farm
GV II
Hop kilns. 2 easternmost kilns probably c1850, 2 westernmost kilns probably c1900. Front of red brick in English bond to ground floor, 1st floor of corru- sated iron replacing weatherboarding. Other elevations of clunch with red brick uressings. Tiled roof in 4 hips. 2 easternmost kilns have pyramidal slate roofs, 1 retaining cowl and fantail. To the east is a mid C19 stable range, mainly clunch but the easternmost part in brick in Susex bond. North east side has a late C18 or early C19 brick range in Sussex bond. To the north is a C20 timber and corrugated iron shed not of special interest. Interior has angled queen strut roof with through purlins to easternmost kilns. Westernmost kilns retain drying racks. Included for listing because hop kilns are extremely rare in West Sussex.
