UGLEY 1. 5222 Church of St Peter TL 52 NW 22/751 21.2.67
II* 2.:Church of C13 origin but very much restored in the C19. The chancel is largely modern and the nave has modern north and south chapels. The principal feature is the C16 red brick tower of 3 stages with an embattled parapet. It is said to have been the last church tower in Essex to have been used as a dovecote. The pigeons were removed in the early part of the C20. The internal fittings include a C16-C17 heavy iron-bound chest. Graded mainly for its C16 west tower. (RCHM 1).
