Farmhouse, cottages and outbuildings marked Appley Home Farm on the map.
Formerly part of Appley Towers Estate (since demolished), and now con-
verted into separate dwellings. Mid C19 though farmhouse possibly
earlier. Group comprises a single storey range running East-west
to the right of entrance gate (originally the stables, now divided into
"Hidaway", Elsie bungalow" and "The Bungalow"), a single storey block
running in the same direction to the North, ("Forelands" and "Siesta")
and 2 other single storey units ("Berham Lodge" and "Caprice"). The
Farmhouse is at right angles to this group and behind it is a water
tower with an outbuilding at its base. All the buildings are of stone
rubble with yellow brick ground and window dressings. Gable end slate
roofs with patterned ridge tiles, shaped gables with brick copings and
spiked ball or fircone finials, some of which originate from Appley
Towers. Tall yellow brick chimneys of free Jacobean type, some set
diagonally. The converted outbuildings have modern casement windows, and
as with the doors have segmental brick arches.

The Farmhouse is 2 storeyed, the 2nd floor windows half dormers with
shaped stone gables. The 2-light casements are original. The water
tower rising behind the Farmhouse is the dominating feature of the
group. It stands in the right angle of an L shape stone rubble out-
building also with brick dressings and shaped gables. The tower has
slit windows on the 1st and 2nd floor of each face, framed by a thin
yellow brick arcade. Tent shaped roof of slate with a flat top surrounded
by an ornate cast iron balustrade.
